About Me
Assistant Principal
Bachelor of Arts – Counseling Psychology, Colorado Mesa University Master of Arts – Social Work, Colorado State University Principal License – Educational Leadership, Colorado State University
What I love most about working at Rice Elementary:
One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is getting to witness students grow as learners. There is no greater feeling than watching a student make a new connection, learn a new skill, or persevere through a challenge. Equally satisfying is being part of a passionate, professional, and committed community of educators that see teaching not as a job, but as a calling.
Favorite Children’s Book/Author:
There are too many to list, but a few at the top of my list are: Roald Dahl, Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, Neil Gaiman, and J.K. Rowling
Grand Junction, CO
If not at school, I can usually be found doing one of three things: watching football (GO BRONCOS), running, or building something out of wood (I have a slight obsession with reclaimed barn wood). I also enjoy spending time with my wife and two kids outdoors doing things like fishing, camping, hiking, and anything involving fresh air and recreation!
A little more about me:
The 2018-2019 school year is my tenth year in Poudre School district and my first year both at Rice Elementary and in the role of Assistant Principal. I have enjoyed supporting students and staff as a district Integrated Services Coordinator over the past four years and as a School Social Worker for five years at Lincoln Middle School prior to that. I am eager to apply my experiences and familiarity with social emotional learning, student engagement, students with disabilities, health and wellness, and community resources to the amazing learning community here at Rice.
