About Me
This is my first year teaching at Rice Elementary! I am a first grade teacher!
I graduated from Grand Valley State University (located in Michigan) in April, 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I am certified in Elementary Education and highly qualified in English/Language Arts.
What I love most about working at Rice Elementary:
This is my first year working at Rice Elementary, but I love my First Grade team! Rice has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. If makes you feel like family!
Favorite Children’s Book/Author:
I love love love reading aloud to my Smarties! My favorite read aloud is "The BFG" by Roald Dahl.
I was born and raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Ypsilanti is right next to Ann Arbor, Michigan! Go Blue!
I love the outdoors. Anything outdoors! Mountain biking, hiking with my dogs and boyfriend, paddle boarding, snowboarding, horse back riding...the list goes on! You will find me outdoors doing something, even if I am at home. I am usually working on something around the farm or out with the horses!
A little more about me:
I have a very active and energetic personality. I love a new challenge and I am always up for trying something new. I moved to Colorado with my dog Sammy at the end of the summer in 2018! The mountains were calling, so I made the move! I absolutely love Colorado, and I love having my family and friends visit!visit! Even though I love staying active and I try to lead a healthy lifestyle, I will never turn down a good cheeseburger and my sweets, especially ice-cream and anything with Oreos in it! Yum!
My Classroom
About My Classroom:

I love engaging my students in hands-on activities, along with embracing all learning styles. My classroom is a positive, safe environment and very student driven. I feel that it is extremely important to take part in the community outside of the school by attending special events that my students partake in. I want my students to know how much I care about each and every one of them and supports them with everything they do.
