About Me
Position:
I am a second grade teacher.
Education:
I have a masters in elementary education from the University of Northern Colorado Greeley. I have a BS in psychology and a minor in business management from the University of San Francisco.
What I love most about working at Rice Elementary:
I love the children and their families here at Rice. I feel very fortunate that I have been here since the school opened and I have gotten to know so many of the families. It is wonderful getting to watch these children grow up.
Favorite Children’s Book/Author:
This is nearly impossible to answer. It is like asking me which of my own children do I love the most. Some of my go to authors are Cynthia Rylant, Eve Bunting, Jane Yolen, Gary Paulsen, and Chris Van Allsburg. They will never disappoint.
Hometown:
I have lived in an old brick house on Remington Street in Fort Collins for 20+ years. This is the longest I have ever lived in one place so clearly I call Fort Collins my hometown. I love it here and don't see myself leaving any time soon.
Interests/Hobbies:
Spending time with my family (husband and two adult children) is my favorite thing to do. When they are off doing their own things, you can find me happily messing about in the kitchen and/or making things. I also am a TED talk junkie. Listening to people who are passionate about what they do is so inspiring.
A little more about me:
I am a classic introvert and while I love spending my days with children, I crave down time alone. I can't remember the last time I felt lonely or bored. A weird passion I have is going to grocery stores and open air markets in foreign countries (and in other states). I think I am up in the twenties now for checking off foreign countries. Clearly I have lots of world markets left to explore and I look forward to the days when I will get to travel again.
