Principal's Welcome

The Rice staff is a highly skilled, caring group of educators.  Our top priority is to use our collective strengths and expertise to create successful outcomes for students.  Each individual student comes to us possessing his or her own unique background, set of strengths, and challenges.  We value school as a place where students come each day feeling welcomed, valued, connected, and willing to learn. Our goal is foster a love of learning in each of our children by providing a learning atmosphere where students and staff embrace a growth-mindset and develop perseverance.  Students at Rice grow in their academic skills through learning opportunities that incorporate critical and creative thinking skills and collaboration with peers.  As a staff, we understand the importance of students “owning” their academic growth.  To advance this ownership, we teach our children how to self-assess their learning progression and celebrate their achievements.

In conjunction with academic rigor and achievement, we also embrace the philosophy of nurturing the “whole child” and create learning environments that are fun.  Students participate in “Specials Classes” each week including music, art, and P.E. They also have opportunities to enroll in after-school enrichment classes to pursue interests or develop new ones.

The Rice school community demonstrates an immense enthusiasm and pride in our school.  We consider our parents and the community as partners in learning.  We welcome your involvement in helping us provide this extraordinary education for every child…every day!
