I am so excited to be teaching English Language Development at Rice this school year! I earned my BA in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado and my master's in Teaching Diverse Learners, with endorsements in Special Education and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education, also at UNC. I have been an elementary teacher for eight years, during which time I have developed a passion for supporting and advocating for students with diverse cultures, languages, abilities, and learning needs. My greatest desire as a teacher is to help my students fully celebrate and utilize their unique personalities, skills, preferences, cultures, and life experiences to achieve success both inside and outside of the classroom.
When I am not teaching, I love to roam the mountains and travel the world! Exploring and discovering new cultures and perspectives is a priority for me. My partner and I have three children, ranging in age from 6th grade to a sophomore in college, so I not only stay busy, but also understand the challenges parent face. Our family enjoys traveling internationally together, as well as appreciating the gorgeous nature outside our doorstep through hiking, backpacking, and skiing.
I am excited to play a part in helping every student and family at Rice experience a sense of value and belonging in our school community!
