Hello, Raptors! My name is Kim Palermo, and I am so excited to be a part of the wonderful Rice Elementary community as a literacy interventionist!! I am happy to say that this is my second year here at Rice. I love teaching all about reading and spelling words because words open your world. Please know I am here to support you as you grow as readers and learners. I look forward to getting to know each of you.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have spent the majority of my life in Arizona and six years in Indiana. My husband and I made the move to beautiful Northern Colorado in the summer of 2022, and we absolutely love it here. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Northern Arizona University (Go Jacks!). This is my 27th year as an educator. Throughout my career, I have enjoyed teaching students from several different grade levels, including second and third grades. This is my tenth year as a literacy interventionist. One of my favorite parts about my role is watching my students' confidence blossom as their skills grow!
My husband John and I have two grown daughters. Ryann is a registered nurse in Chandler, Arizona, and she loves working on the neuro telemetry floor at a hospital. Kara is in graduate school at Texas Tech studying vocal performance. She aspires to being an opera singer. I'm always happy when they find time in their busy schedules to come and visit us! In my free time, I love to travel, read, and explore all the beautiful places around Colorado.
